Abstract
Bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) is a serious oral complication of bisphosphonate treatment involving the exposure of necrotic maxillary or mandibular bone. BRONJ is associated with pain, paresthesia, and oral dysfunction generating an impairment of the quality of life. Treatment of this complication remains difficult and the most useful action is prevention. This is a case report of a multiple myeloma patient whose first signs of BRONJ began in 2002 with the development of an aggressive bilateral osteonecrosis of the mandible. Successful management of this case is described with 17 months of follow up monitoring.
